Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Wiltern Theater - Los Angeles, CA

The members of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club have been proving their live shows are something special throughout their 15 year career. Appealing to fans of all ages, BRMC defines what a rock and roll band should be, and their devoted fans are always treated to the ultimate live experience. 

Returning to their home in Los Angeles after a six-month long world tour, BRMC played to an enthusiastic and appreciative crowd at the sold-out Wiltern Theater Saturday night. From the thundering floor tom drum in the opening “Let the Day Begin” to the final fading guitar note of “Funny Games” from their new release “Specter At The Feast”, Michael, Peter, and Leah used and abused their instruments for 2 hours and left the crowd exhilarated and exhausted.

Pokey Lafarge - Tractor Tavern - Seattle WA

Pokey Lafarge brings new life to old timey country swing! His catchy jigs are hard not to dance to-and you will dance! Whether you like his brand of music or not it is worth a listen… it's hard not to fall in love with it. Pokey played to a sold out Tractor Tavern in Seattle. This crowd could not have been more excited to see him; a mixture of rowdy sing a longs and swing dancing folks filled the place.

Spirit Family Reunion - Tractor Tavern(Seattle) & Whiskey Fest(Portland)

Spirit Family Reunion is one of those bands you could watch perform multiple times and never get enough of them. In fact we were able to see them play in San Diego (Adams Avenue music festival), Portland (North West Whiskey Festival), and Seattle at the Tractor Tavern within 2 weeks. 

If you ever have the chance to see them it is always an experience. I have seen them twice on the east coast and 3 times on the west coast and it is like night and day! Since this was their first tour of the west coast they were constantly creating new fans but on the west coast you better get your tickets fast because they have a serious following!

Jim James - Neptune Theatre - Seattle WA

Jim James of My Morning Jacket just released his latest solo album "Regions of Light and Sound of God" and he is touring hard to promote it. Although this was his last show of the tour before Bonnaroo and the Newport Folk Festival he was in full force and looked like he was ready for more!  

Jim James is on another level as a musician. His stage presence is pure insanity and it is hard to predict what he is going to do next…but you know its going to be good! I am not going to lie… I wish I was Jim James!

Spirit Family Reunion and John C. Reilly and Friends - Adams Avenue Unplugged:

Adams Avenue Unplugged in San Diego was lively and overrun by sun, good musicians, and good vibes.

* The Spirit Family Reunion introduced themselves to a new crowd and gained brand new superfans (like they do.) On a personal level, it is great to watch other people discovering a band like SFR for the first time. Their music is nothing but contagious! 

* John C. Reilly (and friends) proved that he is not just an actor/comedian but a genuine musician who has the chops for some good ol' country music. He played in a church which was very fitting for his performance. I really hope to see more of John C. Reilly in the future, possibly an old fashioned style church tour?

Family of the Year & The Mowgli's at Barboza in Seattle WA 4-20

Sometimes people say "You had to be there." Well this was one of those times. It was one of the most energetic and generally fun shows I have been to in a long time. Both Family of the Year and The Mowgli's danced around so vigorously while playing that it was difficult to capture the rambunctiousness. Although these two bands are substantial on their own they would be perfect permanent touring buddies! Such a good night of upbeat goodhearted music

Record Store Day - Gold Van Records - Maps and Atlases - Seattle WA

In a time when everyone is purchasing their music online or listening for free on Spotify it is refreshing to know that record stores are still going strong! National Record Store Day (Saturday 4-20) celebrates vinyl records, CD's, smaller bands trying to put their music out, and of course nostalgia! Gold Van Records knows this all to well and were out in full support. Gold Van Records is a classy gold cruiser selling vinyl records on the go! Parking where they please lets them bring "the goods" to you. Gold Van Records were kind enough to shuttle people from various record stores throughout Seattle and spread the word along the way.  At Sonic Boom Records in the Ballard neighborhood, customers packed the store to browse and catch an in-store performance.  Maps and Atlases performed to the cozy crowed playing a lower key show than what they are used to but it translated in good form. 

Yonder Mountain String Band and Head For The Hills - Neptune Theater -Seattle WA

Yonder Mountain String Band is a new breed of Blue Grass! There is Blue Grass, there is Blue Grass fused with Rock, and then there is YMSB rocking it out on all strings! No one goes to a YMSB show to sit on their "grass" (had to fit in a pun.) There are no slow melodies, people come to dance! This was YMSB's first show of a very extensive tour; they were joined by Head For The Hills who I would go out of my way to see again! Such a perfect kick off to their tour! It baffles my mind that Langhorne Slim can keep bringing this kind of energy every night. They gave the people what they wanted; a foot stomp'n, banjo play'n, hootenanny of a night! Recently playing on Conan, Langhorne Slim have been on the road promoting their vivacious new album "The Way We Move." Once again proving they can stand out among the rest.
