New music: Oldermost - Lose Your Mind
I know literally nothing about Oldermost other than they are from Philadelphia, and they recently put out an EP of gorgeous, sun-soaked indie-pop. I've seen this starting to make the rounds on a few blogs, and from my first listen I haven't been able to get enough. The EP consists of gently rolling songs that remind me that summer wasn't that long ago, and it won't be long until the warm sun returns. Reverby guitars, ethereal backing vocals and a freeway-cruising beat drives opener "Lose Your Mind", which climaxes in a stomping refrain of "If you're gonna lose your mind / I'll lose mine too". "Dwarf Redhead", the longest track on a brief 4-song, 16-minute EP, is a casually mellow song that unfolds like a sleepy weekend morning before a mid-song tempo change that brings the record to a close with a shuffling beat and chiming guitars that twirl and dance around one another. Beautiful stuff.
Download their self-titled EP at their bandcamp page -- they'll even let you name your own price.

Nice, this sounds so good... I'll be grabbing this.
this EP is really, really incredible. i'm a sucker for their guitar tone, but the singing really lulls you in and their drummer is pretty amazing. i can't wait to hear more stuff from them. the arrangement on the coda of "dwarf redwood" is worth listening to multiple times. it puts me in a trance.
